The things I will miss...

Josiah woke up tonight crying. Not sure why. I'm glad he did.

I found myself sitting in the rocking chair just thinking, as he stuck his thumb in his mouth and went back to sleep. There are many things I will miss about my children in a few years, things they do now that they will grow out of. Josiah is the perfect size for cuddling. He hasn't always been a cuddler but in the last few months as he has gone through seperation anxiety, he has become a persistant cuddler. His legs are just the right length not to hang off your lap, and he is under 20 pounds, so I find that I often get him out of the crib after he wakes up and I sit in the rocking chair with a blanket and snuggle with him until he is awake enough to want to get down. Soon enough he will constantly be running and won't want to snuggle.

Simeon has gone from toddler to preschooler almost overnight. He runs like a little boy and has a little riding toy that he rides like a motorcycle. He goes so fast down the hill by our house and does spin outs at the bottom of the hill. His legs are getting too long for his "bike" and he will be moving on to a tricycle or something else. I need to get a tape of it before he grows out of it, so I can remind him some day of his fearlessness. We all need to be reminded sometimes that we have overcome fear at other times in our lives.

Ephraim is going through a silly giggly stage. He tells jokes that don't make sense and laughs at everything. He can get Josiah to laugh like no one else can. I am sure someday he won't be so goofy or quick to make silly faces. We all need a little humor to get us through challenging times.

Jaron bought himself a beanie baby bear named Wailea. He has 3 different outfits that he changes her into (1 for bed, 1 for play, one for church) I know he won't always worry when he can't find his bear, but it is nice to see him be so concerned for the care of something.

Life passes too quickly, so you might as well stop and cherish what you have for while.

Hey What a fun crew! Great adventures are what every challenge should turn into and you are sure having some with your two week stint in self reliance/ emergency preparedness. (Kind of reminds me of several father and sons outings we had)I'd love it if you send me an e-mail of more details I might share with friends and family here.
PS. I loved our conversation on the phone, Love DAD
