Milk-Crate full of Learning
76 books! The librarian checking all of our books at the library seemed a little over-whelmed when I pulled up to the check-out counter with a milk crate overflowing with books. I know she was a little frazzled when the boys continued to hand her books and she had already scanned them more than once. When she finally made her way to the bottom of the 4 large stacks we made on the counter she asked, "Want to know what your total is?" (I thought for a second they were going to start charging me for checking-out books) " 76 books" she said "Bring them back in 3 weeks" We love books! It is through these many wonderful adventures to the library that I have brought home my overflowing crate of learning and become aware of how amazing everything is around me. Anatomy, Geology, History, Psychology... it is all so fascinating. People are a miracle. I think I could spend the rest of my lifetime studying people. The Biography section is where you will find me regularly hiding at the library, especially the children's biography section. They are short enough to give me a quick glance into the lives of so many... Ruth Law, Wilson Bentley, Molly Bannaker, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Leonardo Da Vinci, Vasco Da Gama... they took their lives and did something great with them, some just for a short time, others a lifetime. And so I will continue to return to the library for another milk- crate full of books, but I'll be back in 2 weeks I don't need 3.

I love this post, but then I'm a book worm, too. Was this a Denise or Jason post, or both?
What are the boys reading this week?
I miss the no fines at Columbia Library, and living 1/2 a mile away.
Here the storytimes are lame, and the checkout is only 2 weeks! But I renew them online.
Wow, and I thought we checked out alot of books. You've got us beat! But I totally know that frazzled librarian you spoke of. She works in UT on Mondays when we go. :)
(We just discovered those biographies too. I was amazed at how many there are there!)
I am SOOO glad to see you online again!! I think 76 beats our record, but I do know 'the look' at checkout--especially with four little ones in tow! The effect is especially nice if someone has a real snotty nose or mismatched clothes. No shoes is crowning!
...76! Wow. That's all I can say. Wow. I'd be afraid of losing some in with our own books.
